Canon 1DC Dynamic Range Shooting in Log ISO 100 v ISO 640

I get asked about workflow and my go to settings by photographers new to DSLR video. To help them here are my thoughts about ISO selection.

Canon 1DC dynamic range shooting in Log.

Shooting with the 1DC in Log a low ISO may not offer you the best files in terms of dynamic range. The table shows from ISO 100 to less than 320 dynamic range is more biased to under 18%grey. When you select ISO 320+ you release the maximum dynamic range above 18% grey. This is the area where skin tones and highlights are.

For everyday use an ISO of 320-800 may offer you the best files, use filters for out door shooting to retain the ISO and maintain your look.

Hope this helps.
