Something for the weekend 4k video shoot with a Le Mans LMP2

Today we did a quick location check, this weekend we are shooting a number of race cars that are soon to be up for sale. Included in the shoot plan will be a short video for each of the cars.

My check list was - available light, the physicality of working the location and if extra lighting would be required. I also asked for a few changes to the space.

As with my recent video productions we are filming in 4k using the amazing Canon 1DC.

There is a lot of internet chatter about 4k being hard to work with, on short productions where there isn't a great amount of post production I have fond it pretty straight forward. However if your system is not high end, the post production is high or for a lengthy feature you would have to think is it worth while for the extra investment needed for the final output.

Chevron GR8 at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012.

Chevron GR8 GT3 at Goodwood Festival of Speed proved to be a formidable car, in fact unbeatable.

Invited to attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend (28 June – 01 July), where the car competed up the hill against other iconic and highly regarded marques.

‘Young Gun’ Jordan Witt and former BTCC and Le Mans star Anthony Reid were in action on the hill at Goodwood last weekend.

The image below is of both the GT3 (before the rear window was revised) and GTC spec car out testing at Oulton Park a few months ago.

Driving the Chevron GT3 was Jordan Witt and Anthony Reid who currently compete for Chevron, as a pairing in the British GT Championship.

Worthy of note Jordan Witt recently took pole and won all three races at the Brands Hatch GT Cup meeting (on 16 – 17 June), this was his first visit at the Goodwood Festival of speed.

Chevron GR8 GT3, Motor Racing 2012

Chevron GR8 out in testing at Oulton Park.

The Chevron GR8 GT3 is a new car for 2012, at the time of testing the opening round of the 2012 British GT Championship was only a week away.

Along side the new car final tests were being made to the updated GR8 GTC spec car

The GT3 car has extra power from a larger engine and increased speed over last years GTC spec car.

Featuring a wider track and a more muscular styling the start line is only a week away.

The Chevron GR8 cars will be competing alongside powerful supercars like Ferrari's 458, McLaren's MP4-12C, Aston Martin and Mercedes.

Round 1 of the 2012 British GT Championship is at Oulton Park Monday 9th April.
